The 5 Steps to Your First $1000 a Month

The 5 Tools Required to Quit Your Job and Work Online

For the last 15 years many aspects to Internet Marketing have changed.  The one thing that has remained constant are the core tolls required to make a ton of money online.

What about social media?  Facebook, Instagram, YouTube?

These have changed how we get traffic and interact with people but the end game is still the email list.

What did I base these 5 items on?  Easy.  If someone asked me “what do I need in order to start an online business” .  If they asked me how to make money online, my answer would be different.  The question was how to start an online business.  To make money, you could do a number of things…but to start a business you need some critical tools.

1. Email Autoresponder

Email is still the number one way to stay in touch with your prospects.  This is the most powerful outbound marketing tool in the world.  Within minutes you can reach your entire subscriber base of hundreds, thousands or millions of people.  Email accounts dwarf social media accounts and email is and has been been available an nearly any device.

Watch this video to get some surprising stats on email vs other methods.

I can spend advertising dollars once to capture a lead and follow up with them whenever I want for as long as they remain a subscriber.

When my email list reaches a certain size, I can generate massive traffic on-demand.  Let’s not forget about the auto portion of the autoresponder.  Automation is a massive part of every internet marketing.  Leveraging automation and duplication is how you the leaders scale their business.  Setup your autoresponder once and let it run forever.

There are many autoresponders on the market today compared to only a few years ago.  What’s the best one?  It depends on what you are trying to do and what level your business is at.  Some very successful marketers with huge lists will use the stand Aweber or Getrepsonse products.  I personally recommend Getresponse because of its ease of use and integration is has with hundreds of plugins and online tools.

2. The Landing Page

You need a landing or squeeze in order to capture emails and get them into your autoresponder.  This one-page website is the most profitable type of website ever created.  A great looking landing page with catchy copy will skyrocket your optin rate.

Landing pages have always contained text and sometimes graphics and are now incorporating short videos to boost conversion rates.  Split testing different types of landing pages is critical to optimizing conversions and gather analysis on what types of pages work for different campaigns.  What works for social media traffic may not work for ppc or blog traffic.

It seems every day there is a new landing page creator, plugin or funnel software being released.  It really comes down to price and usability.  Some products have a high monthly recurring fee while others are a one-time payment.  Typically the products with the monthly fee will also host your landing pages so you don’t need to get a hosting account.

The two most popular products are Clickfunnels and Leadpages.  Both of these are easy to use, have lots of templates but are billed monthly.  These are both great products that will host your landing pages and allow you to create all kinds of pages (bridge, thank you, ppc landing pages).

If you are looking for a wordpress plugin page builder, I would recommend Optimizepress.  It has tons of pre-built templates but does require you to have a wordpress site.

My two favorite products are Squeezefunnels and Landing Page Monkey.  They have a one-time fee, allow you to host your landing pages for free and are very easy to use.  The drawback is the lack of pre-built templates.

3. Domain Name

A domain name is a must is you want anyone to take you seriously.  Even if you don’t have a website you still require a domain name to properly email your list.  If you try to use a gmail or yahoo account very few if any of your emails will get delivered.

You can can also use your domain name to redirect to your landing page or affiliate products.  Every domain name registrar will provide this feature for the price of the domain.

Domain name range from $5 – $15 a year, depending on which TLD you choose.  I recommend .com, .net or .co for credibility and ease of remembering.

There are many sites to purchase domain names from.  I personally use Name Cheap and would highly recommend them.  Please do not use GoDaddy unless you like confusing shopping carts and a shit ton of email offers.

4. A Great Offer

Having an online business requires something to sell.  Choosing the right offer for your audience is crucial to conversion rates.  There are so many things to sell I would not no where to begin.  Digital products from market places like Clickbank and Jvzoo are very popular.  You can also make money recommending the tools and services you use like your landing page product and autoresponder.

I like to mix in very useful tools with longer term online systems like Digital Altitude.  Introducing lower ticket items initially, then transitioning to a more expensive product after I’ve shown value and trust.   Only promote quality products if you plan on surviving long-term online.

5. Traffic

If you build it they will NOT come.  The internet is a large place and just creating a blog or landing page is not nearly enough.  You need to drive traffic all the time.  Free or paid….it doesn’t matter.  most people focus on free traffic and are not successful and end up losing interest.

I suggest you spend some money of high-quality traffic sources as often as possible.  Paid traffic can be cheap and very targeted.  Facebook Ads and PPC are a great way to start out on a budget.  Typically the leads from these methods are very lucrative.

Another option is to use solo ads.  You are basically paying someone with a massive list to email your offer on their behalf.  The quality and price of solo ads can range from $0.30 – $1.50 a click.  Ensure your funnel is setup properly prior to you receiving traffic of you will waste your money. Split test and tweak your funnels along the way to get the best results.

Here are some of my favorite Solo Ad providers.  These range in price and quality so please do your homework.

Email Marketing Tips from 7 Figure Earner Ankur Argwal

7 Reasons Why Email Marketing is Top Passive Income Business

While I was attending Digital Altitude’s Marketing Mastery Event in Las Vegas last weekend, I was struck by Ankur Argwal’s presentation.

Out of all the speakers, I found this one to be the most interesting and the business model I would most like to copy.

If you did not get a chance to attend this event you can find the recordings and presentation in your Digital Altitude account.  If you are not a member, the $1 trial will get you access to 2 days of recordings.

Who is Ankur Argwal?

captureHe started out as a Software Engineer in New Delhi and after several years was not satisfied with his earning potential.  He then top up network marketing and began his future with Internet Marketing.

After reading Magnetic Sponsoring, Ankur had a major breakthrough and decided on a journey to build the largest email list he possibly could.

Eight years and 8 million dollars later, Ankur has one of the largest biz op email lists and continues to become a leader in any program he chooses to join.

During his presentation he shared his current email list which contained over 440,000 subscribers.  Everyday, Ankur brings in 1000-3000 new subscribers which automatically run through his 60 + day autoresponder sequence.

Does Email Marketing Still Work?

Over the course of 8 years many social networking platforms have come and gone but email is still around and possibly more important than ever.  In the work place email is still where business gets done.

According to Ankur, he spends 15 minutes every morning typing an email to his list then is work is done for the day.  Later that day he checks his stats and will have $500-$2000 of new sales.  CRAZY!

This allows him to work anywhere, travel the world and do what he truly wants to do.  Let’s get to the top 7 reasons i promised you.

Reason #1

If you have a large mailing list you control the traffic.  You can generate clicks on demand anytime an email is sent.  Feed the list and let it product traffic…

Reason #2

Mass leverage. You can communicate directly to hundreds of thousands of people instantly through email.  You are one click away from their purchasing power.

Reason #3

You can generate money on demand.  It really is like having an ATM in your living room.  Depending on the size of your list, a single email can generate hundreds or even thousands of $$.

Reason #4

Living the laptop lifestyle anywhere in the world is reality. As long as you have access to your autoresponder you can generate an income.

Reason #5

With an email list you can give yourself a raise every month.  The larger the list and the more you email them (within reason of course) the more income you can earn.  Take at least 33% of your earnings and use that to build an even larger list.

Reason #6

The money is in the follow up.  Sure, you can make money on the front end but you now have that subscriber for life (or as long as they stay subscribed).  An average it takes 7 follow ups for someone to make a purchasing decision.

Reason #7

Once they know, like and trust you the barriers have been removed and the money will come pouring in.  This is warm traffic that already knows who you are.  Marketing with Facebook or YouTube ads takes more time and money to make sales.

This presentation gave me new inspiration to build my list as fast as possible.  I already have several Solo Ads and click packages purchased and ready to go.  Once this have been delivered I will share my results on a new post.

Here’s the Cheat Sheet for this post via Slideshare

Monkey Tools

Monkey tools?  WTF.  These are a great set of tool created by a company called Promote Labs.  They started it out with Landing Page Monkey which I have been using successfully for many years now.  Like all Monkey tools, it’s easy to use and very effective.  Plus, they typically do not charge much for their products.

Recently I had a problem to solve regarding videos.  Typically I use YouTube and Vimeo to host videos for marketing or video sales letters.  I have not editing tools and really don’t want to invest the time or money required to be effective with these tools.

My problem was with an existing video I wanted to use for a VSL.  The problem was, I wanted to use a portion of the video…actually the middle of the video.

I searched around and found Monkey Playr was able to solve this problem for me.  I’m able to choose what time I start and stop the video from the tool, then I paste a little piece of code in my website, blog or directly into Landing Page Monkey.

In addition to this, I can remove the video branding, controls and even have the video redirect to another website once its done playing.

There is no monthly fee for this product, rather a low one-time charge.  I am an affiliate for this product and have no problems promoting it.  I’m using this for all my video sales letters in Squeezefunnels, Landing Page Monkey and my Thank you pages.

Check Out Monkey Playr

The second Monkey tool I wanted to mention is called Popup Monkey. This is a simple popup tool that allows you to paste code into ant wordpress or html site.  Typically you are forced to choose from a million wordpress plugins that don’t work outside of wordpress (duh).  So any static html pages and squeeze pages, I needed to find another tool

It’s extremely easy to use and has a ton of features.  I’m able to control when the popup appears, if it reoccurs on every visit.  You are able to have a picture or video popup, then redirect to a url when someone clicks on the popup

Since I added a popup to this blog and my squeeze pages, I’m getting several clicks and optins to my Digital Altitude trial.  See some of my stats below.

Like all the Money Tools, Popup Monkey is really affordable and can be used on any website.

How to Bring in 50 Leads a Day With Facebook Advertising

Getting Leads with Paid Traffic

The number one reason online businesses fail is due to lack of traffic and leads.  Over the years paid traffic has helped businesses succeed in record time.

While paid traffic can be lucrative, it still does require tweaking or you may find yourself spending lots of money with very little to show.

In the most recent On The Rise Call, superstar marketing Alfredo Delgado “opens the kimono” on his Facebook Ads campaigns.

What surprised me is how simple yet effective his strategy is. Let me quickly layout the steps Alfredo uses to get 50 $1 sign ups per day.

This alone makes him $25 a day…..not including the future commissions.

Step 1.   Create a short video with a call to action linking to a lead capture page.  This does not need to be anything professional.  These were shot from Alfredo’s phone.

Step 2.  Your lead capture page should be clean and simple.  Do not make any guarantees and ensure you have a privacy policy, terms and conditions disclaimer.

Step 3.  After they optin to your lead capture page, send them to a bridge page thanking them for the optin.  Shoot a short video introducing yourself and guide them to the next page where they watch the video (or what ever you promised them in return for opting in).  Place a link to a social media site you are active on.  Could be Facebook, Youtube, Instagram….anything.

Step 4. show them the video and make sure there is a link for your offer.  In this case it will point to the Digital Altitude $1 trial.

That’s it.  Isn’t this crazy!!  I need to be doing this and I’m going to.  Step one for me is to get another Facebook Ads account setup.

Finally, here are Alfedo’s rules you need to follow in order to prevent your Facebook Ads account from not being banned.

Do You Even Need a Blog Anymore?

bad-websiteWow, its been a while but I’m still here.  The reason for my absence is simple. Is there any point to having a blog any longer?

With Facebook, Twitter (all of which I hate) is there a need to post anything to a blog.  Google now blasts any IM blog off their listings and SEO is a thing of the past.  Everything is about paid advertising.  I’m ok with this as SEO cost way more i  terms of time then anyone can imagine.

I’m seriously considering going back in time and having everything published via my email list.  My site will soon turn into a squeeze page explaining my strategy.

If someone is interested in what I have tk say, they can join my list.  My posts will be emails and I can branch off into segmented lists if someone finds interest in a product I mention.

Plus,  I can email everyone a series that makes sense and follows a sequence.  So many times I’ve landed on a site and felt lost, not knowing what I should read next.  Sounds dumb but its true……

Like I’ve said many times, Internet Marketing has changed and will continue too but the foundation is still email and products.  Dont’ worry about Facebook, niche sites, Kindle books, etc going away.  Something new will come aling and take its place.  Build a list of followers and you will be fine.

OWN Your Traffic – And Make More Money With Squeeze Pages + a List

email clipartFrustrated with your website traffic? Tired of seeing little streams of prospects silently wade through without buying anything…or even subscribing?

Squeeze Pages and autoresponders should be your best friend.

You’ve heard the ole saying that your target customer needs to see your ad or content 7 times before deciding whether or not to buy right? So, rather than hope your online ads are so pervasive that they get seen that often, why not set up a squeeze page to to capture that lead and follow up with an email.

Then, your followup emails can do all of the future selling without the hope of attracting subsequent visits.

The process for setting up your squeeze pages is pretty straight forward  – instead of driving traffic straight to your blog, drive your traffic to your squeeze pages first.

You might have one of your squeeze pages designed for people interested in, say, going skiing, while another one of your squeeze pages collects the emails of people interested in buying skis. Then, your two squeeze pages have built you two email marketing lists, each targeted to a different consumer (sort of).

After your traffic is captured by your squeeze pages, you’ve got the ability to get your sales messages in front of them as often as every day. (Meanwhile, a lot of the traffic you’re busy driving is being captured by your squeeze pages, and added to your list)…

You’ll want to do everything you can to get your squeeze pages to convert at 50% or better, because then you’ll know you’re capturing most of your traffic, and it’s not just going to waste.

As your squeeze pages funnel new leads into your lists, you’ll have a larger and larger database of prospective customers to market to for free. And as your business grows, you can set up squeeze pages in different niches, different markets, and diversify your business by building new and fresh lists around a variety of interests.

Squeeze pages can shape and revolutionize your whole conversion strategy, but if you don’t know the best way to get started building your list with squeeze pages, it can be an uphill battle to make it work.

Many newbies get stuck before their squeeze pages are even working, and there are plenty of other dangers standing between you and a series of squeeze pages that captures your traffic for increased revenues…

Email Marketing is a Numbers Game

email marketing is a numbers gameStanding Out Online

Getting noticed online is not nearly as easy as most marketers make it out to be. I’ve spent hours putting together Blog posts and videos that I thought were useful but received little attention.

As disappointing as this is, I continue to push out as much content as I can. After a few months you will get more traffic as you syndicate your content across different platforms.

Some of my power points get significantly more views on Slideshare than my boost posts ever have. Soon I will add my more popular posts and resources page to Slideshare as a pdf.

Adding videos to YouTube has been good but not great.  My views are still low but I get at least one affiliate click per day. As I add more videos and posts I hope to get to a point where this hits critical mass…..which leads to passive sales.

List Building Simplified

Email marketing and really any affiliate marketing really boils down to a numbers game.

When you first start out your overall traffic will be low so conversion rates are near zero. When your email list is 50 people, the open rate, click rate and conversion rate will be crappy. After hitting the 150 mark, the numbers are starting to fall into place.

By purchasing at least 2 solo ads (100 clicks) per month I should get at least 50 new subscribers added to my list each month based on a 25% optin rate. The historical income from an email list is said to be $1 per subscriber per month. If this is actually true…I will be making $1k per month.

Check out my favorite solo ads.

In order to guarantee this rate I am in the process of building my own one-time-offer product. This will be email marketing focused of course. One of the reasons I want my own OTO is because of the long sales pages most products have.

A OTO is typically presented after an optin or purchase.  I prefer to have a very basic page with a video of me explaining the product…followed by a link to the product.  This link should go straight to a checkout screen and NOT another sales page. Since I don’t have my own product I use an affiliate product so I cannot link directly to the checkout page.

Over the years I have purchased tons of internet marketing courses and more recently,  email marketing courses.  Each one of these courses typically contains a few really good tips that to stick with me.

So my plan is to gather all the “good tips” and build a product explaining these.  I do not plan on stealing other people products from beginning to end,  but merely summarizing a bunch of different really good ideas.

Having my own product should also recoup my list building costs and possibly even help make a profit while I build my list.

Out of every method I have tried so far,  using solo ads is the easiest (maybe not the cheapest) ways to build your list.
